Situated between the university and the city center, the area of Plaz is a stratgic position for a stop for tourists, as well as a weeken excursions for locals, since is connected through the international and nationals highways and the railway.
It's sourranded by different field filtering the residential areas noises.

The camping area of EOT in Patras Plaz has been in bad conditions, alost abandoed for several years. The transportation to the place isn't very frequent and available only on summer months and the only working facility seems to be th restaurant.

 

 The trees all around the area work as a shadowing surface for the area, protecting it fro the mai stream of wind coming from south-west.

Kazimir Malevich, inspired Geometric Abstract modern painting. Malevich works consisting of pure geometri forms and their relationships to one another.

 So the idea of our concept is to unify different geometric figures creating: 

1. smaller microclimates: green walls are opening and closing the whole area, as musch as the main square; pavemented circles are gathering the scattering buildings creating different usages of the area.
2. different experience: through the different textures of the pavements, visitors will be able to enjoy the different qualities of te area
3. differnt paths and promenades: the main axis leads to a platform for sunbathing and acquatic activities extending the land into the water.

 

This way, our concept gives to the area of Plaz a new setting:

 

A new info point for tourism and a center for leisure activities is built around the research center.

 

The setting of the new Research center for tourism has the same properties as the main properties of the main circle: gather the differt functios in order to create a small microclimate with his own square. The surfce has a total square meters of 1900 dived in:

1. an hostel for the visiting professors;
2. labs and classrooms for research;
3. auditorium for meetings and presentations;
4. cafeteria for a break;
5. offices
6. and an exhibiton part: being just a skeleton, it has the possibility of being amplified when necessary.

 

 

The inention of the proposal aims to bring together people of all ages, either they're there for recreation or entertainement or education, and to serve as a meeting ad socializing point of the general area.
